Marau a kura

The kaimahi of TKKM o Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu work to provide a well-balanced curriculum focused on supporting and guiding tamariki in developing and strengthening their individual faculties, abilities and social skills.

This is achieved through providing a broad-based curriculum with practical, creative and academic components. The curriculum is carefully aimed to meet the tamariki at their appropriate age, intellect, emotional and physical development.

The kura follows Te Aho Matua and identifies the interests and unique skills that all tamariki have and will work alongside whānau and tamariki to further enhance their interests and skills.

We will continue to be the best Kura Kaupapa Māori that we can be, offering the highest quality learning experiences and programmes.

We will know how close we are to achieving this vision by-

OUR VALUES

Te Aho Matua, our guiding principles for Te Kura Kaupapa Māori are linked for our learning community to three Taonga Horomata. We model these virtues through day to day behaviours and attitudes. They are also linked into our marau a kura and graduate profile

 

 

 

OUR MISSION STATEMENT

To provide a seamless ongoing education that allows each child to achieve his/her full potential socially, intellectually, physically and emotionally in an environment that affirms his/her Māori identity by the acknowledgement, respect and continual use of Te Reo Rangatira, knowledge, processes and structures.

 

 

OUR TEACHING BELIEFS

Our teaching and learning beliefs are linked to our kura mission statement. We hold high expectations for our tamariki. We are dedicated to provide quality education within a caring, positive, and stimulating environment that enables tamariki to reach their full potential with whānau to support and guide them.

 

 

ADOPTION AND REVIEW

The Board of Trustees of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Wānanga Whare Tapere o Takitimu will ratify this charter after consultation with whānau.

 

 

CULTURAL DIVERSITY

We aim to ensure the Kura operations reflect New Zealand’s cultural diversity and the unique position of the Māori culture and all cultures within the kura and provide instruction in tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori for all tamariki. We also encourage tamariki to understand and respect differences and similarities between all cultures. All lessons will be in Te Reo and will ensure tamariki are familiar with tikanga, kawa, waiata and mihi. Our kura in collaboration with our kōhanga reo and Māori performing arts trust acknowledges the importance of Kahungunutanga, takitimutanga and whare taperetanga. This will include opportunities for learning outside of the classroom and participating in appropriate community events.
